Learn about the key features to consider when purchasing a notebook computer.

Choice of operating system:Windows XP ProfessionalWindows XP HomeFreeDOSSUSE® Linux HP Edition 9.1
Min 1.6 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and 40GB hard drive
If you will be using for customer presentations, a larger, active matrix display is better
If you plan on using your product on an office network (LAN) or with a broadband connection, (i.e. xDSL, cable modem, etc.) you will need a built-in 10/100 ethernet connection or a 10/100/1000 NIC.
If you are using an "always-on" Internet connection like xDSL or a cable modem you should consider a backup device for your desktop computer as well as personal firewall software and virus protection software.
You should consider a PCMCIA Card Slot for maximum flexibility
If you are likely to work at your desk and remotely with your notebook, you may want to consider a port replicator or docking station
