Using your new Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is easy and can make an overwhelming day much more manageable. With new features to help you organise and analyse information, you can stay on top of your workload and on top of your day.

Instant Search is detail-specific and helps you find messages, senders, calendar items, and even attachments quickly.

For example: You need to find a message from Human Resources regarding your benefits package and it was sent as an attachment. You can type "benefits" in the search field and Instant Search will automatically start finding items. Outlook then highlights the search word everywhere it is located to help you sort through found information quickly.

Preview allows you to take a peek at what’s inside a file and saves you the trouble of first opening or saving the file before you can look at it.

To-do bar gives a quick overview of tasks, calendars, meetings and more. Double-clicking on a task in the To-do bar opens the item in its own window complete with a Ribbon-based menu of tools for tasks like assigning, setting recurrence, categorizing and flagging.

Color-coding categories can help you stay organised.  By applying a category to e-mails, tasks and calendar items you can quickly see what’s important.

To do so click the color-codingicon on the tool bar (four colour square) or click on the event or message you wish to colour-code.  The same icon in the pop-up window allows you to categorise by top priority, on hold, event type and more.

By applying multiple categories to one item, you can quickly assess the importance of the meeting. For example, you may mark a meeting red for top priority and purple because a supervisor or important client will be present. To prioritise meetings or events go to Arrange by: and scroll down to choose either start date, due date, folder, type or importance.

Outlook 2007 paired with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 allows you to see voice-mails and faxes in your e-mail inbox as they arrive. Click on a voicemail and hear a normal recording through your computer.

Share your calendar with coworkers on the same network when you pair Outlook 2007 with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

To sync calendars, just e-mail a copy of your calendar to co-workers under Calendar > Share my calendar. Then click allow once the request to view a coworker's calendar is submitted. Their copies will stay linked to the current one on your computer and update automatically as yours changes.

Outlook Mobile Service
is a feature of Outlook that enables you to send and receive text and picture messages between Office Outlook 2007 and any mobile phone.

Faster Microsoft Office Fluent user interface allows for better results faster. The redesigned look and feel of the messaging interface makes composing, formatting reacting to information simple and more instinctive.

Out of Office Assistant
makes it easier to send custom out of office messages. To do so, go to Tools > Out of Office Assistant. You can now choose Inside my organizationor Outside my organizationand draft and save your out of office responses to both.

Stronger Junk e-mail filter has added new features that disable links and warn you about threatening content within an e-mail message.

If you haven’t yet become fully acquainted with your Outlook 2007, this overview can help you use it to the best of your ability. Outlook 2007 has kept its useful features, but re-vamped them to make them work better and ultimately to help you work better.
