If you have mobile users, you’ve probably given a great deal of thought to the type of mobile device that best suits their needs and integrates into your existing IT infrastructure. When you consider whether to roll out converged (voice/data) devices, notebooks or PDAs to enable accessing data on a small device, you might find that the iPAQ 210 Enterprise Handheld PDA best suits your needs.
Do your employees need a large, clear screen to view larger amounts of data easily? Do your employees stay connected via synchronising periodically with their desktops or via wireless LAN connection on-site or at hotspots versus requiring real-time access supported by monthly service plan charges with carriers? Does the size of the device need to be one that is small enough to fit in a pocket for optimum portability?
If the answer is yes to these questions, then HP’s iPAQ 210 Enterprise Handheld should be the obvious choice. This iPAQ is the most robustly-featured PDA on the market today for companies who have standardised on Windows Mobile. Mobile workers will enjoy ease of use with a high resolution 4” VGA touch-screen and Windows Mobile® 6. Its powerful processor, long battery life and large memory mean applications can reside on the device itself and users can work longer before recharging.
Expandability through peripheral devices is easy using a choice of Secure Digital (SD) and Compact Flash (CF) card slots and mini-USB port. Connecting wirelessly for real time access using a Wi-Fi connection (802.11 b/g) or tethering with a cell phone using Bluetooth® 2.0 with EDR is faster than ever with the latest in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies. Or, consider adding a CF card for WWAN data access for a more direct real-time data-transfer option.
Why should you standardise on an HP handheld/PDA?
If your mobile workforce is copying information down by hand in the field, then returning back to the office to input the data at the end of the day, they’re taking a serious productivity hit. The iPAQ 210 can run applications directly on the device, allowing them to input information only once. Information is recorded and submitted only one time.
If your organisation’s infrastructure is built around Microsoft Exchange and uses Microsoft productivity and email applications, you’ll find that interfacing with the Windows-based iPAQ 210 is a snap.
Finally, HP is offering for the first time with the iPAQ 210 a new service, HP Custom Touch, that enables companies with as few as 200 devices to create a customised ROM with your company’s branding, ROM settings, and your own applications such that when the device is hard-reset, the “factory default” settings become your own. This can dramatically reduce the number of service calls and related costs associated with supporting your mobile workers. HP will consult with you to ensure your specifications are included and delivered via your own re-orderable part number.
From a management perspective, HP’s Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) makes it simpler to manage a fleet of mobile devices over-the-air for select HP devices and non-HP devices.
The HP iPAQ 210 is an ideal ally in the growing mobility wars. Get your users mobile without sacrificing productivity, efficiency or your budget.
