A bit about ProCurve

The ProCurve Networking business unit of HP delivers wired and wireless enterprise networking products, services and solutions. The foundation for ProCurve’s business model is the Adaptive Networks strategy in which networks are adaptive to users, applications and an organisation’s needs.

Part of the ProCurve offering is its management software – Identity Driven Manager (IDM).

IDM works by dynamically applying security, access, and performance settings to network infrastructure devices based on user, device, location, time, and client system state. That means the network is provisioned automatically to approved users - wherever and whenever they connect to the network.

Standards-based and easy to use, IDM allows administrators to define and manage policies from a central location, eliminating the need to configure each network element separately. By automatically managing intelligent network access in this way, IDM gives administrators more control over their networks, more productivity from their IT staff, and more adaptability in an increasingly competitive business environment.

About NAP

Microsoft’s® Network Access Protection (NAP) is a policy enforcement technology built into the Windows® Vista and Windows® Server 2008 operating systems that allows customers to better protect network assets from unhealthy computers by enforcing compliance with network health policies.

NAP allows network administrators to define strict levels of network access based on who a client is, the groups to which the client belongs, and the degree to which that client is compliant with corporate governance policy. If a client is not compliant, NAP provides a mechanism to automatically bring the client back into compliance and then dynamically increase its level of network access.

Working together

Now that IDM is fully compatible with NAP it can deliver customised network access policies for admission of users and clients across both wired and wireless environments and simplify management. So now you can have more control and be more secure.

In addition, ProCurve was recently selected as the sole infrastructure vendor for all Microsoft® Technology Centers worldwide. The ProCurve infrastructure allows Microsoft customers to easily test out their products and services in a networking environment created to manage advanced applications without requiring any hardware upgrades.
